The hybrid imagers of the DS9900 Series from Zebra convince with their performance and futuristic design. In handheld mode, the imagers may be used just as well with the left as with the right hand — and if the user has his hands full, he continues to scan reliably in presentation mode. A capacitive touch sensor, along with an accelerometer, ensures that the imagers immediately switch from presentation mode to handheld mode as soon as they are picked up. In presentation mode, the scan field is automatically set so that nearby objects are not accidentally scanned. In handheld mode, the setting changes automatically, making it easy to capture objects up to 62 cm away.
The imagers’ equipment includes an 800 MHz microprocessor and Zebra’s »PRZM Intelligent Imaging Technology«. Together they provide excellent performance when reading 1D, 2D and Digimarc barcodes. And all that regardless of their condition – digital barcodes on smartphones, poorly readable, crumpled, faded, shiny, damaged barcodes and those with a poor contrast are reliably captured. The reading rate is up to 610 cm/sec. in presentation mode. They are also robust: the DS9908 has an IP52 certification and is impact-resistant from a height of 1.5 m. The DS9908R is IP42-certified and withstands falls from 1.2 m height. The imagers have USB, RS-232, keyboard wedge and TGCS (IBM) 46XX over RS-485 interfaces.
The Zebra DS9900 Series scanners are just the right area imagers when it comes to fast and incredibly precise scanning at the POS in retail, check-in areas and hospitality. The Zebra DS9908R line also reliably and quickly captures RFIDs. While the DS9908R-SR is particularly comfortable in retail workspaces, the DS9908R-HD is more for follow-up in areas, such as the laboratory.
