Brodit was founded in 1983 in Karlsborg. The taxi driver Ebbe Johansson had just bought his first mobile phone and considered how he could accommodate it in his vehicle. At that time, mobile phones still weighed 20 kg. Johansson drove home to his garage and designed a robust plastic holder for his mobile phone, which could be attached without damaging the vehicle’s interior. Johansson’s colleagues saw the mobile phone holder and were thrilled. So Johansson constructed more holders. Demand grew. That’s how Brodit came into being. Today, the product range includes many more accessories in addition to vehicle mounts – but mobile devices are always the focus. The Brodit portfolio includes active and passive holders for mobile computers in cars and forklifts, pedestal mounts in various sizes plus accessories, mounts with locks, table mounts and pipe mounts. Brodit also sells charging cradles and charging cables. The active holders of the Swedish company are available with a cigarette lighter plug as well as for permanent installation. Passive holders are available with and without a ball joint. Brodit holders are versatile usable in warehousing, transportation and logistics: they may be combined with rod systems and are suitable for both outdoor and indoor use – for example for packing stations.
