What makes the EC50/EC55 stand out is their unbelievably slim, light design in a smartphone look. The footprint is a mere 154.4 x 76 x 9.8 mm (L x W x D) and they weigh just 173 grams. So you not only comfortably carry them with you all day, you also easily store them in your trouser or coat pocket.

In an age where everyone is reachable all the time, an extremely good, quick and reliable wireless connection is key as a standard feature, especially with the EC50 and EC55. They impress with Wi-Fi connections in »corded quality«. To do this, they combine 2x2 MU-MIMO, WorryFree Wi-Fi and Workforce Connect PTT Express – ensuring for an almost immediate reaction, making the mobile computers fit for complex telephoning applications.

Via Bluetooth and NFC you simply need to tip with your finger to have the EC50/EC55 read an ID card or pair with a printer. Also, Bluetooth 5.0 increases the performance of connected peripheral devices, since it offers a significantly higher speed at extended ranges. For field staff the EC55 additionally features LTE and GPS, as well as a nano and optional e-SIM card slot.

In addition to the particularly powerful and advanced SD660 octa-core processor, the EC50 and EC55 also convince with reliable voice and data application. The large memory provides plenty of space for storing all types of data and is made up of 3 GB RAM and 32 GB flash. Optionally expand both to 4 GB RAM and 64 GB flash.

The mobile computers come standard with a powerful 3,060 mAh battery. When fully charged, it provides up to 10 hours of power. Depending on the need, a more powerful battery with 4,180 mAh is available. This gives them operational readiness of up to 13 hours when fully charged – perfect for long work days.

For capturing all common 1D and 2D barcodes the EC50 and EC55 are equipped with an optional omni-directional 2D scanner. Thanks to the SE4100 scan module, it excites with quick, reliable scanning results. The 13 megapixel colour camera with LED flash and auto-focus on the rear of the mobile computers simplify the capture of detailed photos and video for documenting proof of delivery, return receipts and more. On the front there is an optional 5 megapixel camera with fixed focus.

The large 5'' HD display of the EC50/EC55 offers plenty of space for information and, thanks to its 450 nits, is also readable in poor lighting conditions. Its capacitive multi-touch support makes surface handling very easy and intuitive. Another big advantage: the touch panel and scan window are nearly completely water- and dust-proof, thanks to the integrated Corning Gorilla Glass. This makes it particularly scratch- and impact-resistant; with the optional protective cover it receives even greater protection.

With their durable housing the EC50 and EC55 are well equipped against the elements in daily usage. They feature IP67 certification, meaning the mobile computers are entirely protected against dust, and even short immersions in water are no problem. Also, they feature MIL-STD-810G certification and, with the optional protective cover, they withstand multiple impacts from up to 1.5 m. Temperature ranges between -10 and 50 °C during operation and storage temperatures of -40 to 70 °C are no challenge for them.
